The winners each received top of the range digital video cameras, with Simon Marcus taking the new Sony HVR-Z1 HDV high definition camcorder. They will also be given paid commissions for further films.

All the judges praised the high quality of the films entered for the competition and CCN’s Mark Ashfield said the company would be showcasing as many of the entries as possible on their national network of public screens.

C4 commissioning editor Adam Gee, hosted the event on behalf of the Channel’s IDEASFACTORY initiative, which was set up to help identify talent and provide a route through to the creative industries.

He urged contestants to continue to explore the 30 second film genre which provided a great discipline for short form storytelling.

Nigel Paine, Head of People Development at the BBC said: “There were some very good shorts here. The winners all showed good original approaches and a clear message.”

And finally, the team at intoMEDIA would like to thank everyone who entered the competition for all the thought and effort that has gone into the project to make it such an outstanding success.

There are already plans to run the competition again in 2006, so watch out for an email or a website announcement in the next few months.
